Vitamin common cold, prolong your life and even
Vitamin supplements do not cure the cold, they do not prolong your life and in some cases they may actually even be harmful.
Vitamins are a collection of various micronutrients that are essential for your body to function normally, except that by definition vitamins are nutrients that we only need a tiny little bit of and normally we get plenty of them from the foods we eat.You could say that getting more of them should be better for you, but vitamins are kinda like cats, if you have no cats you will be lonely if you have one or two cats you will feel better, but that’s enough, no one needs to load up on them. And just like with cats you really don’t want to over do it, studies show that vitamins like A, D or E can actually make you sick. Vitamin A can cause swelling of the bones, vitamin D can cause kidney failure, and vitamin E can cause bruising and bleeding of the lungs.Do any of you remember a product called Airborne? For those of you who don’t know Airborne was a cold medicine invented by a teacher that was marketed by saying that it “cure for the common cold”.
That was false. Airborne is actually just a bunch of fizzy vitamin C, and in 2006 they were sued for false advertising and had to pay out $23,000,000. In reality 15 different studies proved that vitamin C does not cure the common cold. The idea that vitamins acts as a cure all came from a man name Linus Pauling. He was the only person im history to be awarded 2 solo nobel prizes, but in the early 70’s Pauling became obsessed with the concept of immortality which lead to him going vitamin crazy.
He claimed that megadoses of vitamin C could cure the common cold, prolong your life and even cure cancer and because he was a popular scientist the media believed him. But multiple studies have proven that Pauling was wrong. There is no medical proof for his claims and in August of 1994 he died of prostate cancer, the very disease he claimed that vitamins would cure. Pauling was like the Michael Jackson of nutrition, he totally changed the game, we had no idea how crazy he was and 40 years later we’re still humming his tunes. Thats bad. You know it.
