            People have always been wondering how life began and how
a lot of different kinds of organisms originate so most people in history have
created myths and theories about creation . Through long ages  these myths and theories became well-accepted
in people’s life and then some scientists began to question them. Thus
evolution theory was born. Evolution means the process by which living species
in biology acquire different traits from their ancestors, by inheriting a
genetic variation from generation to generation .Many scientists agree on that
concept and they have been trying to develop this theory over hundreds of years
to make it reasonable and believable to people. But in the face of these
efforts most people still do not agree with the scientists. I’ve done a lot of
research to find out why people are against the theory of evolution and  found several reasons. These reasons are :
religions do not accept theory of evolution and curricula that do not provide
adequate education for students.


            Religions are an obstacle for people to accept the theory
of evolution.  The reason of it is the
verses which in holy books contradict with science about creation of world and
human .  According to the these verses ,  there are different  stories about creation of humans in Islam and
Christianity. If we first consider how humanity began in Christianity ,  the first human representation  according to Bible comes in verse 26 of
Genesis 1: “Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to
our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the
earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”.  In this verse ,the first  human was created with fully formed by God
without common genes with animals in 6 days . But , science claims a completely
different opinion.  In his 2004 article ,Stefan
Lovgren  states that “1
Scientific evidence shows that the universe was actually formed about 13.7
billion years ago, while the Earth was formed around 4.5 billion years ago. The
first humans date back only a hundred thousand years or so.”( para.50).  When we compare these 2 different opinions ,
we cannot find  any common points
between Bible and science. Also same situation happens in Islam. According to Qur’an,
” Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; then placed him as a
drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; then We fashioned the drop into a
clot, then We fashioned the clot into a little lump, then We fashioned the
little lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it
another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of Creators!” 23:12-14.  In Islam we see the different story about
creation . This verse tells us humanity was made by mud and about process of
formation of the human body. The things described in this verse do not match
the information that evolution gives us . The evolution theory tells us  our bodies are the result of millions of
years of process and also very complex organisms. It claims that there is no
relation between mud and our bodies . Thus , in holly books no information
related to evolution has been given and people who read holly books cannot find
anything about evolution theory and so people are deprived of this knowledge and
they become anti-evolutionist. Also , accepting theory of evolution seems
sinful behaviour for religious people.



One possible explanation as to
why people refuse to believe evolution is poor education system. National curriculums
have done very poor job in the field of teaching students about this theory.
Many students  have wrong beliefs and if
it continues like this may be these children never reach scientific knowledge. In
his 2015 article , Casey Luskin clearly states that “… 2Unfortunately,
most biology classrooms teach a one-sided, pro-Darwin-only curriculum that
censors serious any scientific critique of neo-Darwinism. This makes for bad
science education. It doesn’t teach students how to think, just what to
think.”  (para . 32). Unfortunately
, Luskin  is quite right in his deduction
for this matter. Students do not learn evolution exactly because of  dogmatic items enter education systems instead
of scientific knowledge. Also , these lessons are taught by people who do not
dominate the subject, or give false information in the direction of their
ideological purposes . In both cases, giving lessons can have worse
consequences. Also , it has been seen that students have a positive approach of
the theory of evolution in early age. It means the exact time to teach
evolution is middle school . But , almost all curricula teach the theory of
evolution too late.
