Healing Ceremony is an essential part of traditional Native healing. Physical and spiritual health being an intimately connected to body and spirit, they all must heal together. Traditional healing ceremonies promoted wellness the Native Americans and reflecting Native conceptions of Spirit, Creator, and the Universe. During the healing festivals prayers, chants, drumming, songs, stories, and the use of a variety of sacred objects are used to mark the whole event.

However, I’m sure that whatever isn’t understood through sheer spiritual discovery would be explained to him by the shaman in charge of the ceremony.

More so, shaman often speak in languages that are dead to modern Native Americans, or use words that have fallen out of use. Thus, it is clear that not everything must be understood in healing ceremonies in order to ensure its success.
According to Milne and Howard(2000, p. 545, Para. 3) “Ceremonies may address specific illness and life problems, or they may be prophylactic; they may be intended to ameliorate the cause of suffering, or they may be intended to enhance health, the quality of social relationships, and financial well-being.” Praying and singing were very significant component in religious ceremonies and also during healing ceremonies in Native America. In traditional Native American, praying begins and ends each and every day. Praying with friends and family is done regularly. Praying heals the spirit and strengthens ones faith. Healing chants are usually performed by close family members who have gathered around a loved one who is seriously ill. Green Corn Festivals, is also considered a festival and sacred ceremony by the America natives, mainly practiced by the peoples of the Eastern Woodlands and the Southeastern tribes. The Green Corn festivals coincided with the summer and are tied to the maturing of the corn crops. Green corn ceremonies were marked with dancing, feasting, fasting and religious observations, the ceremony usually lasts for three consecutive days. Green corn festivals activities were conducted in different manner basing on believes of various tribes in America. Besides this diffidence’s they had the common thread that the corn was not to be eaten until the Great Spirit has been given his proper thanks first. During the periods of these ceremonies, natives’ members give thanks for the corn, rain, sun, and a good harvest. Some native tribes believed to have their existence from the corn by the Great Spirit. The Green Corn Festival is also a religious renewal, with various religious ceremonies. During this time, the native tribes hold council meetings where many of the previous year’s minor evils or misconducts are forgiven as a way of promoting unity amongst the community. Others important fact of the ceremony is that the exercise as the time of year when youth and babies are given their names during this occasion. Several tribes unite during this festival, they organized tournament amongst themselves and ball games to mark the event. Also Cleansing and purifying was carried out. There was cleaning out homes, burning waste, and drinking emetics with an aim of purifying the body. At the end of each day of the festival, feasts are held to celebrate the good harvest. Green Corn ceremonies are still practiced today by many different native peoples of the Southeastern Woodland Culture.
The pipe ceremony is a sacred ritual for connecting physical and spiritual worlds. Smoke resembles the words spoken; it goes out, touches everything, and becomes a part of all there is. Tobacco was preferred because that the plant’s roots go deep into the earth, and its smoke rises high into the heavens.

Natives Americans saw the Creator through nature, and tried to emulate what the Creator had made. This was the reason why, in the old days Indians were honest and they had an unblemished environmental record.  Visitors landing in native America kept them alive. They were extremely humanistic. That’s one of the main reasons that I believe in the natural way.
