Executive
Summary

Organizational culture is what
describes the psychology, attitudes, beliefs and values of an organization. It
has been defined as collection of values and norms that are shared  by
people and groups in an organization and that control the way they interact
with each other and with outside the organization.”

Changes are enevitable part . Every organisation
adapts changes.

Culture Change has become a area of concern for
most of the organisation as now a days most of the organisation believes to be
employee friendly while some persist to traditional culture where employees
needs to adhere to certain norms and policies.

 

 

 

 

 

What
is Organizational Culture ?

Organizational Culture is the  beliefs, customs, traditions and values shared
by the members of the organization. Corporate culture can be looked at as a
system. It is important to consider culture while managing change in the
organization. Culture can be both, as input and as output. While organizational
culture is the term that reflects culture in any type of organization be it
school, university, not-for-profit groups, government agencies or business
entity, more concrete business terms are corporate culture and company culture

Characteristics of
organisational structure.

1) Innovation and Risk Taking. –how employs are encouraged to be
innovative

2) Attention to Detail.-employees are expected to exhibit attention to
detail

3) Outcome Orientation.-degree to which management focus on outcome

4) People Orientation.-considering effect of outcomes on people within
organisation.

5) Team Orientation.-degree to which work activities are organised

6) Aggressiveness.-how much are employees aggressive towards work
completion

7)  Stability.-how organisation
activities emphasize maintaining the status

 

 

 

How employees
learn about orgainizational culture?

The Paradigm:

What the organization is about, its mission, its values.

Control Systems:

The processes in place to monitor what is going on. Role culture should
have vast rulebooks. There would be more reliance on individualism in a power culture.

Organizational Structures:

Reporting lines, hierarchies, and the way that work flows through the
business

Power Structures:

Who makes the decisions, how widely spread is power, and on what is
power based?

How to create ethical organisation
culture:

Be
a visible role model to your employees as they will look to the actions and
doings of top management.

·      
Communicate
ethical expectations by sharing a code of ethics that states the organisation’s
ethical values that all must follow.

·      
Providing
ethical training by setting up workshops , seminars to clarify what practices
are permissible.

·      
By
visibly rewarding ethical acts and punishing unethical ones.

·      
Provide
mechanism so that employees can discuss unethical behaviours

CREATING POSITIVE ORGANIZATIONAL
CULTURE:

·       Building on employee
strength emphasiszing on showing workers how they can capitalise on their
strength

·       By rewarding more than
punishing in the form of salary hike or promotion

·       By emphasizing growth
and supporting what employee contribute and working on how organisation can
