Prussia is an area in Germany, it originated from the Duchy
of Prussia and the Margraviate of Brandenburg in 1525 with the capital of
Konigsberg, in 1701 the capital moved to Berlin. In 1871 most of the Germanic
states united to become the German empire, which was under Prussian leadership.
In 1918 the German empire became the Weimer Republic due to the treaty of
Versailles, which was at the end of the first world war. This also saw the
Monarchy of Prussia; the house of Hohenzollern being abolished.

Firstly, we will talk about the Austro-Prussian war of 1866,
just before the creation of Germany, in this time many parts of the former Holy
Roman Empire where integrating to become Germany, however, the two main powers,
Austria and Prussia failed to negotiate on rulership of Germany, this resulted
in the Austro-Prussian war between Prussian led Confederation states (Prussia,
Brunswick, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Saxe-Coburg & Gotha, Saxe-Altenburg,
Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Oldenburg, Anhalt, Schwarzburg, Waldeck, Lippe,
Saxe-Lauenburg, Lübeck, Bremen and Hamburg) and Italy against Austrian-led
German Confederation states (Austria, Bavaria, Saxony, Hanover, Württemberg,
Hesse-Kassel, Baden, Hesse-Darmstadt, Nassau, Saxe-Meiningen, Reuss-Greiz,
Schaumburg-Lippe and Frankfurt).

Important leaders and Wilhelm I, Von Bonin, Bismarck, Moltke,
Falckenstein, Emanuele II, Marmora and Ricasoli on the Prussian and Italian
side and Joseph I, Von Teschen, Von Gablenz, King George V, Albrecht and
Benedek on the Austrian side.

Our first major battle, The Battle of Custoza, is set in the
24th of June, it is between Italy (commanded by Marmora) and Austria
(under Albrecht), in the location of Custoza, Venetia, While the Italian side
had 120,000 troops and the Austrians 75,000, the Austrians won the battle. With
8,100 Italian casualties and 5,700 Austrian casualties.

This had major strategic benefits for the Austrians, as they
pushed the Italians behind the Mincio, a river in Lombardy, Northern Italy.

The next major battle is the Battle of Trautenau, set on the
27th of June, Between Prussia (under Wilhelm I and Von Bonin) and
Austria (under Von Gablenz) and set in Trutnov, Bohemia. Although an Austrian
victory, the cost had been high. The Austrians lost about 5000 men to the Prussians

Next is the battle of Langensalza, also on the 27th
of June, between Prussia and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Under Moltke and
Falckenstein), versus and Hanover and Bavaria (under George V).

Although Hanover and Bavaria won the battle, they had 380
casualties in a 19000-man army, in comparison, The Prussians had 160 casualties
in their 9000-man army. This battle also resulted in the surrender of Hanover
and Bavaria in 2 days time.
