For many infectious diseases, timely,
accurate and rapid diagnosis coupled with prompt effective treatment may
improve patient outcomes and reduce transmission through vulnerable populations
1. Understanding the structure of DNA enables to improve the existing methods
or to develop new models for the diagnosis of genetic disease. The
identification of microbial diseases or genetic disorders is a long process, takes
approximately 1-5 days 2; which has an important effect on morbidity ratio. Identification
process therefore must be as fast as possible. Furthermore, DNA detection
technology could be a solution for important bacterial transmitted disease. Because
of the bacteria, Chlamydia trachomatis, which could be detected by antigen
detection technologies; 3 to 4 million people are infected occur annually in
the United States and that 89 million cases occur worldwide 3. Due to the
fact that the detection technology could save lots of people’s lives, it must
be affordable for lots of people.  As a
consequence, more rapid, sensitive, affordable and specific technology should
be developed to take the place of slow and limited methods.

The nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT)
technique is one of the most effective and advantageous method for
microbiological detection; which could be used for rapid on-site detection of
environmental, food-borne and water borne pathogens and point-of-care clinical
diagnostics 4. Nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) techniques interest
DNA sequences directly, allowing further clinical information to be detected
from either patient or pathogen; the aim of NAAT is to identify and potentially
quantify specific nucleic acid sequences from clinical samples 2. NAAT technology
is recently developed as an appropriate way of point-to-care detection;
however, the new technology is complex and too expensive for widespread
deployment. The basic aim of the project is to develop NAAT process for
point-of-care detection; which is affordable and simple to use.
