by  Sir Moneeb. when we reached
there  and  were welcomed 
by Mr. Assad Ali and he introduce us about their farm and also give the
answer of our question.there were different breeds of cattle which are dhanni
bull, holstein Frisian  jersey and cross  bred  which have 25% endogenous and 75% exotic
breed.there was totally fifty animals which including  twenty lactating ,four pregnant,and fifteen
heifer and calves .and animal feeding contain concentrate as well as
silage  and shelf  made Wanda  which have 17%  CP and 2.8 ME  etc. Animals was healthy and pregnant also we
asked about the milk production of cross bred  as well as HF they told us HF milk production
is 35l/day and cross bred 25l/day but the was problem of heat stress in summer
seasons and also the problem of three day sickness disease as   such
no disease outbreak and mortality was 1-2% in calves.fmd and HS vaccine is done
twice a year. There was no use        oxytocine as  well as  somatotropine hormones .  some time reproductive issue mostly in HF   repeat
breeding etc and they also used CIDER in the animals of different reproductive
order. Teaser bull is also there for heat detection of animals and only used of
artificial insemination and also used of sex semen. milking of animals by
milking machine in  milking parlor and
they used iodine solution for pre and post dipping of teat in it. Then we visit
the complete farm   i.e milking room, labour area and feed storage
room and different pictorial views  are
at the end of report. After discussion with Mr. Asad we go for physical
examination of animal as well as body scoring, sir  Moneeb sb  
give   demonstration   about physical examination of animals then
we examine the animal step by step

First day tour

Koont research farm is the farm or sub
campus of arid  agriculture  university  Rawalpindi it contain both agriculture as well
as livestock department including different animals sheep ,goat, cattle
,buffalo, equines. The approval of Dean of  FV and AS we go there 1 December 2018 to 2
December 2018 for sake of partials work as well as doing some procedure on
large and small animals. First day supervisor was DR. Asghar  khan and DR shakeel sb .we reached their along
with different equipments or require material for perform procedure. DR Asghar give
 a  lecture on physical  examination as well as  procedure of  nasogastric  tube  with  its indications after delivering lecture sir
give us a damo on goat and buffalo after it everybody start their practices on
small ruminants and write the self perform practical’s and submitted to Sir
Asghar. The practical work which I perform
on koont farm under supervision of Dr Asghar are given below,

Procedure of passing of
stomach tube is told by sir first of all I restrain the goat and take
measurement from lips to last rib of rib cage then use spatula and open the
mouth of goat and pass the tube through spatula which is made by stainless
steel it prevent the chewing of tube when tube reach esophagus due to
swallowing reflex tube reached into the rumen sir told us how you will identify
either the tube is in the rumen or lungs take k water bowl contain enough quantity
of water that we can dip the free end of tube into bowl if bubbles formations
it means tube is in the lungs if sweaty smell and no bubbles formation it mean
tube is in the rumen.

After it go for lunch and rest for 1
hr and go back to farm and repeat the above work and 4 o clock departure from
koont farm for pindi.

Second day

The tour was supervised by DR.awais,
DR. sajid umer and Mr.Imran sb and go to koont farm for doing work regarding surgery,
livestock management and poultry pathology. When we reached their Dr sajid  Umer sb taking  class in  lecture hall and give a lecture on postmortem
finding of different poultry disease .After delivering  lecture  we go on the farm and  take  dead  bird and start 
 postmortem  and  discuss
 the anatomy  of  different  systems of  poultry  at the  end sir conduct a quiz  then we go  for lunch and saying  prayer after it  again go  back to farm and sir Imran sb give us
demonstration on cow and  buffalo told  about body scoring as well as weight measuring
 formula of cow  and goat  then we  doing it and it sir awais  give demonstration on mastitis ,hoof trimming
and gastric tube and also perform mastitis test on goat milk.

At the end we asked different
question on the feeding of animals to veterinary assistant they told me as such
no specific diet it depend on available fodder, wheat bran, hay as well silage .Animals
was not healthy low milk production reason behind it was poor management the feed
which we providing the animals have 13% CP and lack of veterinary doctor also
the reasons of poor management.




                                   TOUR OF SUB


Supervisor of this tour was DR fiaz
sb  along with DR Asghar sb and MR. Imran.
 This tour was near about three  days from 10 December 2018  to  13 December
we departure from university transport office 9 AM and reached Pattoki
10 PM. After reach their rest half an hour and then go for dinner after dinner
go to bed for sleeping then next day after breakfast go for visiting the Dog
breeding center which was under the supervision of DR syed  saleem Ahmad, and Gulzar Hassan .they told as
the objectives of dog breeding and also provides different breeds to defense department.
there was different dogs breeds including Germen shepherd, Labrador,
Rottweiler, Mastiff.



Pets breeding center





visiting the pets breeding center we go to visit the teaching hospital
including medicine ward, theriogenological ward, surgery ward and also visit
the poultry production unit as well as   ostrich farm. Then we     go    to
the   dairy  
department   under   supervision of   DR. fiaz  
and  DR.Asghar.   Before  
entrance   in  the
area of  dairy farm they should provide
us foot beg and dipping of  shoes in
disinfectant and  the  lime stone after it we  reached  the  different  dairy section. There was two shed of animal in
which one is made by steel roof while other was by cement roof you can see both
shed in the following pictorial view.


  Five roof shed having 14 by 16 tractor  passage 
and feeding table was near about 2 feet and animal standing area was 6
inch below from feeding table where animal stand for eating.150 by 100  was length and width and height was
20,18,16,14,12 (five roof shed)).

Frisian was present in this shed according to doctor of that shed they buy
pregnant heifers of 4 to 6 month from united state.

                                SMALL RUMINENTS RESEARCH

After visiting the dairy farm we go
to the department of small ruminant research center where we seen different
goat as well as sheep breeds. They feed them on oat silage and 500gms
concentrate per animal per day.

After visiting the sub campus uvas
pattoki we go to buffalo research institute pattkoi .DR Rao  Intizar welcomed us and give a lecture
about  introduction of BRI in the auditorium.
He told us about the  objective of  BRI and about  different  departments  including  breeding and genetic ,animal nutrition and
embryo transfer techniques i.e .After taking lecture we go for visiting  the farm of buffalo research institute where  farm manager 
 DR. Burhan sb  welcomed us and they introduce about animals
farm. DR burhan sb told us about the groups of animals on the base of different
physical status including a group of lactating  animals, dry animals, suckler  group and transitional l   group.
   Due to    good    management
as  well  as   feeding  decrease  the age of conception/puberty. He  achieve the  conception in 
heifer at sixteen  month  which  weight was 320kg.we asked about the feeding
they told us about feeding which provided to the animals are green fodder, half
of the body weight of concentrate, stomach powder and mineral mixture but
stopped   the  mineral  mixture  before 45  days of  parturition. There maximum milk production was
 about 21 L/day per animal. Dehorning   as
well as  disbudding  at the age of  first  week of birth. .And   deworming   the calf’s at  first month of birth with   nilzan  plus. The  calf  feeding included colostrums  10% of body weight and calf starter 1.5kg  upto to five month then start green fodder
,Anmol  wanda   and  half  kilogram
wheat straw .  Use  of  teaser   bull
for heat detection and  Artificial  insemination after 12 hr of estrus , double AI
 technique is used there that’s why
conception rate is good. They vaccinated their animals against HS and FMD twice
a year. in case of repear breeding they used CIDER as well as GnRh if no
response after it then that animal going for culling. Due to shortage of
time  we cannot get the answer of our
question but I gained a lot of.
