Art high pressure strains the right ventricle
Art for me is therapeutic and primary mode of expression and communication. I use it as a tool to address emotional issues, which may define a mental state of mind of an individual. My research aims at working with young children , adults and the elderly who suffer a wide range of difficulties and disabilities These vary from emotional, behavioral and mental health problems to learning or physical disabilities or life-limiting conditions, neurological conditions and physical illnesses. The inspiration for this specific subject comes to me when I first discovered my boss who I worked under was a friend of my aunt who passed away right after I was born. People, family, relatives often told me I was a reincarnation of her but I never believed it until this moment. At work she often mentioned to me that I reminded her of a friend of hers but I never knew who it was . One randon dinner break she breaks down saying ‘I miss Vinita but she passed away years ago and you probably don’t know her cause you would have been a kid but she belongs to the same hometown as you and was a wonderful soul. I was numb and speechless and my body language said it all. With tears rolling down my eyes I mumbled that’s my aunt. Her death was always a mystery to us. Death, murder , rape was still left undiscovered….
My heart was shattered into pieces when I found out she herself suffers from Pulmonary hypertension. This which is a lung disorder in which the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs become narrowed. Blood pressure in these arteries rises far above normal levels and this abnormally high pressure strains the right ventricle of the heart, causing it to expand in size. There is no cure for this disease and could be life threatening. Art for her is the only medicine and cure, which now makes her one of the leading interior designers of India.
This incident scared me for life and now plays a vital role in making my artworks.
